revision: 2d and 3d by wendy wee

do you prefer 2d to 3d? - wendy wee

the other time when i answered this, i was sure i liked 3d much better than 2d graphics. i was wrong. when syed said 2d was realistic, it hit me in the head; why? that's because in 2d, the characters are not humanly realistic; they are realistic in their own world. they can draw out bazookas from their pockets and no one ever complains that their actions are wrong. we cant do that in reality, and we watch in awe and wonder of their behaviour and movements. while comparing 2d to 3d, 3d animations are pretty flawless in their textures whereas 2d is more rough and sketched out. yet, we do not mind the flaws and accept them warmly, quite like a trail and error kind of concept. in my perception, when we look at human 3d animations, we tend to compare them to ourselves in a way like; "woah, is that possible?", "can we really do that?". it's because these characters look every bit like a human yet they have supernatural powers. this comparison has perhaps, made me (humans) look somewhat weak and vulnerable. i guess i like 2d art much better than 3d. (plus the fact i cant draw 3d, it acts as a minus factor in this analysis. HAHAHA:).)
