pride, she said (the infinity series)

it's good to have an imaginary friend. it keeps you busy; your mind thinking. in fact, i have an imaginary boyfriend/husband. he's perfect, no heartaches. i recommend an imaginary friend for ~~those who are lonely~~ all.

was it pride that kept you waiting (for her), she asked
he stayed quiet because he knew she was right
was it pride that kept you asleep?
he stared at her in wide open wonder
what would you gain by losing more, she questioned rhetorically
nevertheless, he remained silent

i'm no different either, she said
i know the answers and yet i ask
pride is what keeps us living
pride is what keeps us moving
pride is what keeps us yearning
pride is what keeps us believing
(ah, that would be self-consolence, she mused)

(the pride of the shinobi holds no shame
my pride is me, myself and i
i can make myself proud of me)

then you are not a monster, she concluded.
For monsters have no pride,
they have nothing to be proud of.
~~With that he fell on his knees/ she left.~~
he reached out for her, only to grasp air.

would this make you broken, she asked and smiled when she obviously knew it would shatter him to nothing
she left him stripped bare of pride
what was there to live or now?
Ah, but monsters are adaptable, you're not, are you?
(she tried to make her point)
won't that make humans half monsters then, he wanted to ask but still he kept silent
pride is human, it's a human characteristic

he couldn't identify what was it he was feeling
he couldn't identify what it was that made her ask
was it pity she saw when she saw him?
she said for him the answers

he yearned for these moments (moments like these) like water in a desert
because what he was waiting for
was some soul/one like him, asking answers to (unanswered?/incompleted) questions

on a lighter note;
now now, was it pride that you kept your hair soft as silk, she giggled and she teased, i can smell your shampoo
he protested, it's personal hygiene
he insisted

too stunned he was then
he thought it through and through
but ~~animals/~~beasts have pride too
their young, their hunts, their way of life, he wanted to rebuke
but she wasn't here anymore
she wasn't there anymore

infinity, she said
is a long time
infinity is a burden
dont make promises based on infinity, she said
cause mama once promised infinity was _________ (to be filled in)
